I used to spend an inordinate amount of time convincing people of the value of participating in a marketplace that has a billion users. But now, I think its self evident to any sales person that hasn’t been under a rock for the last several years. But, just for kicks, I provide here a ‘snipet’ from a recent Facebook article (May 1, 2013):
Facebook says that it had 665 million daily active users on average in March, up from 618 million in Q4 2012 and a 26 percent increase year-over-year. Monthly active users hit an impressive 1.11 billion — Facebook had hit a billion active users last October.
Here’s an important key to think about if you’re in the ‘sales game,’ many people use ONLY FACEBOOK—meaning they don’t, or only rarely, surf the internet other than Facebook. So, what does that mean? The study also contrasts fans and non-fans. The former is much more active in social media. The average fan is a fan of 10 brand pages at a given time. On the other hand, almost two-thirds of non-fans have followed 10 or fewer brand pages. Three-quarters of fans are likely to share good brand experiences and share promotions and discounts with their Facebook friends. About two-thirds of fans are likely to share a bad brand experience.
